Olympic Power for the Camping & Caravanning Club

04 October 2012

The London Olympics and Paralympics 2012 saw thousands of tourists from all over the world flock to the city to watch their favourite athletes compete. This included Team GB's gold medalists Sir Chris Hoy, Jessica Ennis, Mo Farah, and Andy Murray as well as all the other great athletes representing their home nations. There were also thousands of volunteers remaining in London helping throughout the Olympics. This meant lots of people and only a limited amount of temporary accommodation. Therefore, many of the general public turned to camping as the most cost effective way of staying the night in London and accessing the various Olympic venues.

PE generators were part of the team helping to provide this much needed campsite accommodation. We supplied a full turnkey temporary power package at two of the most popular campsites; Leyton and Gravesend. This involved delivery, temporary electrical layout design and connections to multiple units. This was needed for both staff accommodation as well as providing welfare facilities for their clients, refueling and disconnection.

The campsite at Leyton generated a great deal of interest for those looking for accommodation due to its large capacity and handy location. The campsite had 320 pitches and was the closest campsite in London to the main Olympic Park; just a 10 minute walk away. Gravesend campsite also had approximately 250 pitches for those visiting the city and was located next to Ebbsfleet International Station. This meant campers could be at the Olympic Park and Stadium with the 10 minute high-speed rail link to Stratford Station.

PE Generators is proud to have been part of the team helping the London 2012 Olympics run smoothly- and congratulations again to all our amazing athletes!
