PE Generators Pipe up to the Challenge
18 August 2011
PE Generators provided the hire of generators & associated
equipment to Glasgow City Council for the World Pipe Band
Championships in Glasgow

The event has been running since 1930, when the Scottish Pipe Band
Association (today known as the Royal Scottish Pipe
Band Association) was formed. The title of World Champion is an
extremely sought after by bands and is seen as the culmination of a
year's worth of preparation, rehearsal and practice. Typically,
several hundred bands attend, traveling from all over the
world.
Glasgow Green is home to several monuments and sculptures and is
host to many great events including the Glasgow Show, the Great
Scottish Run, the annual fireworks display and pop concerts to name
a few. Therefore, it is essential that the park is well maintained
and left undamaged in order to continue with normal activities. The
parks facilities and attractions such as the The Doulton Fountain and
surrounding play areas are visited by site seers and members of the
local community therefore it was vital that PE Generators adhered
to the council rules and transported/ operated equipment in a way
that wouldn't disturb or be of danger.
The hire of generators & associated equipment was required
for this event. PE Generators managed to deliver on time, fully
operational sets. We adhered to the councils schedule and Safe
Practice was of the upmost importance when working amongst the
public and in such a scenic and well preserved environment.
On this occasion, PE Generators was
chosen as generator partner because of their reputation and from
previous work, proving that the company can provide a reliable and
efficient service coupled with knowledgeable and friendly
staff.
PE Generators supplied 27 Super Silent generators for hire,
ranging from 20kva to 70kva. Distribution, cabling and bunded fuel
tanks were also supplied for the championships. The equipment was
transported to Glasgow Green by PE Generators and our engineers and
technical staff were on call for emergencies or assistance
throughout the entire event.
